How to Check Whether the Solar Panel is Damaged?

2024-05-24 Oree Solar

There are several possible reasons for solar panel damage:

Damage caused by natural factors: Solar panels are generally installed outdoors, and long-term exposure to wind, rain, sand and dust erosion and other natural environmental factors may cause them to be damaged.

Temperature changes: In hot or extremely cold weather, the temperature of solar panels will change, which may cause damage to the adhesive of the solar cell structure, resulting in the loosening of the glass panel and affecting the power generation effect.

Water damage: Rain or moisture may penetrate into the solar panel and cause damage.

Human damage: For example, improper maintenance. Solar panels need regular maintenance and cleaning, otherwise dust or dirt may clog the solar panel and affect the power generation effect, or even burn the solar panel directly.

There are several ways to detect whether the solar panel is damaged:

Appearance inspection: Observe whether there are scratches or cracks on the surface of the solar panel, check whether the solar panel bracket is intact, and check whether the solar panel is too dusty.

Thermal imaging detection: By locally heating the solar panel, using an infrared camera to record the temperature changes on the surface of the panel, the heating degree and local temperature difference of the solar panel are evaluated.

Electrical parameter detection: Using the characteristics of the solar cell itself, through specific light sources, optical filtering and camera equipment, etc., the surface defects, damage and pollution of the solar panel are detected.

Functional test: By simulating the irradiation of sunlight, the solar panel is tested to see if it can work properly.

If the above methods cannot determine whether the solar panel is damaged, it is recommended to contact professionals for further testing and diagnosis.
